A grain bin accident south of Newton Saturday afternoon left one person dead and two others injured.

Emergency crews were called to the 2100 block of S. Spencer Road at 2:30 p.m. Three men were working inside the bin leveling and emptying soybeans when the contents suddenly shifted, trapping one of the men. He died at the scene but his identity has not been released, pending notification of family.

A second man was buried in grain up to his neck but crews were able to hand dig him out. He declined transport to the hospital.

The third man inside the bin was able to pull himself out before authorities arrived.
