One person died Saturday afternoon when a train struck a vehicle in south Wichita.
It happened just after 3 p.m. at S. Madison Avenue and E. Wassall Street, near I-135 and K-15.
Police say the driver attempted to go around the railroad crossing arms and was struck by the train. Fire fighters had to extricate the victim from the wreckage.
The victim’s name has not been released.
