One person is dead and another has critical injuries after a morning stabbing in southeast Wichita.
It happened around 8:10 a.m. Saturday. Wichita Police said a 36-year-old man stole a vehicle in the 600 block of north Waco. A short time later, he crashed into a church at Poplar and Orme, causing minor damage to the structure. After the crash, the man entered a nearby home in the 600 block of south Green and stabbed two people inside. The victims were transported to a local hospital where one died and the other remains in critical condition.
Chief Gordon Ramsay says the suspect, a parolee with a lengthy criminal history, was arrested a few blocks away from the home. Ramsay added the suspect had no apparent connection to the victims.
