One person died and another victim was injured after gunshots occurred and a car crashed into a home in Haysville; the call came in shortly after midnight Friday.

It happened in the 6500 block of South A Street, a neighborhood to the southwest of 63rd Street South & Broadway.

“It was initially dispatched as a possible building collapse,” said Haysville Police Chief Jeff Whitfield. “And there was a vehicle involved, from what we were told. We received a subsequent call that there was possibly some gunshots in the area before that. Once we arrived, we did find there was a vehicle that had been involved in an accident here.”

Officers found a car sitting in the yard of a home, and extensive damage to the house.

The driver of the car died at the scene.

“A female was found on the same street with apparent minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital,” Whitfield said.

Multiple firearm shell-casings were found further up the street.
