One person is dead following a crash in east Wichita. It happened just after 6:30 p.m. Monday evening, in the 700 block of S. Woodlawn, near Lincoln.
Officials said that an off-duty firefighter reported the driver was in the vehicle, unresponsive, with the windows and doors locked. The vehicle was smoking when first responders arrived.
That person was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The investigation is ongoing. Additional information was not immediately available.
