Wichita pedestrians killed in separate incidents

A woman and man are dead after separate vehicle versus pedestrian incidents in Wichita this weekend.


The first incident happened just before 11:25 Friday night, in the 3400 block of West Taft, near Leonine Road, to the north of Kellogg. A 38-year old woman suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.

Wichita Police said the vehicle involved fled the scene and has not been located. It is a white SUV with possible front-end damage. If you have any information, you're asked to call Wichita Police or Crime Stoppers.

Saturday afternoon, a 63-year-old Wichita man died after he was hit while crossing the road in north Wichita.

Around 1:15 p.m., the man was trying to cross the road in a wheelchair near 27th Street North and Amidon when he was hit by a northbound truck. The man was critically injured and died at the hospital.

Police say the driver was impaired and was booked on suspicion of felony DUI and involuntary manslaughter.
