A teenage boy who was shot in east Wichita Monday afternoon has died. Police identified the boy as Jalen Reed, 14.
Investigators say Reed was with a 16-year-old when the older boy pointed a gun at Reed and fired a single shot, striking the boy.
The 16-year-old and another teen tried to take Reed to the hospital in a private vehicle, but it broke down on east Harry, just west of Rock Road.
EMS transported Reed to the hospital, where he later died.
The 16-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of 2nd degree murder, and criminal possession of a firearm by a juvenile.
