One person was left in critical condition and another is still on the loose after a car crash in east Wichita.

Police say the incident started around 7:08 p.m. Friday at Central and Oliver. Officers were monitoring a balloon release for a person killed on Halloween last year, after receiving information that there could be violence. A man who was found in violation of his parole fled in a car with four other people. The car eventually crashed into another vehicle at 8th and Edgemoor.

Four of the men attempted to flee on foot. Three were arrested, but the fourth man has not been located.

A fifth man was found, suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Police are investigating why that man was shot.

The driver of the other car had minor injuries.
