Police have made an arrest after the death of a 24-year-old Wichita man, who was fatally shot early Sunday morning in Old Town.
22-year-old Daniel Martinez has been arrested.
After 12:30 a.m. Sunday, officers were north of Douglas & Washington when they heard multiple gunshots. Officers immediately responded to the area, along with a WPD drone.
The victim was found in a nearby parking lot, suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was treated by police until Sedgwick County EMS personnel arrived. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
WPD says the use of Flock technology and the development of multiple leads, along with Patrol Service Dog Uno, allowed detectives and officers to identify, locate, and arrest the suspect.
Police say a disturbance occurred in the parking lot between the victim and the suspect prior to the shooting. If you have information that can help, you're asked to call Wichita Police investigators at 316-268-4407, or call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
