UPDATE: One person is dead following a crash in west Wichita. It happened just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Central and Ridge Rd.
Investigators said they had been looking for a suspect, wanted for a robbery that took place south of the crash location. Officers observed the suspect pull into a gas station. When he got out of his vehicle, he was taken into custody.
However, the driver pulled away and headed north at a high rate of speed. That person was also wanted for another robbery that took place earlier on Tuesday.
According to police, the suspect went through the intersection at a high rate of speed and caused a collision involving four vehicles.
Both suspects were taken into custody and the Kansas Highway Patrol was called in to assist with the investigation.

A serious car crash shut down traffic for a time in west Wichita. It happened around 5:00 p.m. at Central and Ridge Rd.
Investigators said that multiple vehicles were involved in the crash. One person was taken to the hospital in very critical condition. Police are also searching for someone who ran from a vehicle.
