Sedgwick County Election Commissioner Laura Rainwater tells KNSS News Tuesday's election "went smoothly". She says "other than the six o'clock a.m. burst there were no lines." She says this is the first local election she can remember when advanced voting numbers were higher than election day numbers.
Still, Rainwater says turnout will be less than expected, under 65 percent, and she can't explain why.
Rainwater credits the 950 volunteers who worked a 14-hour day with being courteous and helpful. She says "all the credit goes to them."
