A recount in confirms that a 1-cent sales tax proposal, failed by 1-vote in Haysville. The measure would have continued a current tax that paid for much of the city's street and park maintenance.
The final vote was 472 to 473. City officials say that without the tax, they may need to rely on property taxes to make street repairs, along with replacing any aging parks equipment. The city council may re-introduce the tax proposal on a future ballot.
