Sedgwick County's Fourth Quarter financial report was released Wednesday.

The organization’s fiscal condition remains sound with healthy fund balances, while revenue from continued tax base growth is strong, according to Brent Shelton, the county's deputy CFO. He said the organization has challenges ahead in 2023 including inflation, interest rates and workforce issues.

Chairman Pete Meitzner and Commissioner Jim Howell both expressed concerns with the 2023 budget, thanks to the food sales tax cut that went into effect Jan. 1. Howell believes the county will lose around $6 million thanks to the lower tax rate.
