Postal officials say at least four sections of mailboxes were burned in north Wichita, but it's not known if fireworks caused the damage.
It happened in the 3700 block of N. Rushwood, near 37th and Woodlawn.
Mailboxes are protected by federal laws, and crimes against them, and the mail inside are investigated by postal inspectors.
Anyone convicted of destruction of federal property could face up to three years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
