Sedgwick County sheriff Jeff Easter says more than two hours after Lofton was taken into custody, he was having mental issues and fighting with staff.

Sheriff Easter says his office and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation continue to work the case; he asks that local residents and people posting about the incident on social media be patient as the investigation progresses.

An autopsy was conducted, but Sheriff Easter says a cause-of-death has yet to be determined, pending toxicology results.

He says the investigation yielded information that Lofton may have ingested some illegal narcotics prior to the 911 call for police to come to his foster father's house.
