Sedgwick County Commissioners adopted the county's local emergency operations plan.

It establishes the framework through which the county coordinates preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities for all hazards that may affect the county.

Julie Stimson, the county's Emergency Management Director, credited her staff for reducing the size of the plan from 400 to 180 pages.

The review process typically takes place every 5 years, however the last one was completed in 2022 thanks to extensions granted in 2020 at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
