
Thursday, the Sedgwick County Commission will act as the board of canvassers to certify the results of the recent election. Commission Chair Pete Baty tells KNSS News the board will "go through" all the ballots that may be in question, because of late post marks, no signatures, etc. They will make decisions on whether to count those ballots and present the results to the county election commissioner. Baty complimented Election Commissioner Laura Rainwater and the 950 volunteer workers, saying they did a "remarkable" job.
The Sedgwick County Zoo will soon welcome five new babies to its elephant herd. That means the Zoo will have to create more space for the pachyderms. At Wednesday's meeting, the County Commission will talk about the expansion. Commission Chair Ryan Baty tells KNSS News they'll discuss an application for funding help in the form of a matching grant, with the county's share at $2.6 million.
