At Wednesday's meeting the Sedgwick County Commission will hear a report on bridges, and plans to repair and replace them. Commission Chair Pete Meitzner tells KNSS News there "hundreds of bridges" in the county, many of them smaller structures in the western part of the county. Those bridges carry big farm equipment. Meitzner says bridge maintenance is an important part of public works.
The commission will also hear a report Wednesday on dispersing money from a federal grant to assist in covid pandemic relief. Meitzner says that money must be committed by the end of 2024.
Sedgwick County officials continue to search for a new home for administrative staff currently working out of the Ruffin building at Broadway and Douglas. Meitzner says several buildings are being considered, but the county also has the option of constructing a new building, or staying in the Ruffin building, which has a ten-year lease option.
Meitzner commented during his weekly appearance on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
