Sedgwick County Commission will make several proclamations

The Sedgwick County Commission will approve several proclamations at Wednesday's weekly meeting, including End the Stigma Day, EMS Week, and National Public Works Week. Commission Chair Ryan Baty tells KNSS News 3 Public Works Department maintains 600 road miles of roadways and more than 600 bridges. Baty says the work is "incredibly important to the vitality of our community"

The Commission will discuss an Addiction Intervention Coalition, to be financed by opioid settlement money from pharmaceutical companies. Baty tells says the County and the City of Wichita will have about 14 million dollars to spend on a board to advise them on how best to spend these dollars.

The Commission will receive an update on solid waste. Baty says residents are assessed a $5 fee once a year, to go for solid waste management and education.
