The Sedgwick County Commission considered a rezoning request for a property near Goddard.
The applicant at the proposed site near 6th Street South and 199th Street West wanted to use part of the property for storing operable RVs.
Over 42% of neighbors were opposed to the plan.
The board passed the motion 4-1, with Commissioner Jim Howell casting the lone no vote.
The site must meet several conditions, such as a storage limit of 10 thousand square feet, an all-weather pavement surface and light and noise mitigation.
In other news, commissioners approved establishing a TIF district near 85th Street North and Seneca in Valley Center.
Developers plan to use the financing to construct residential development. Before that can begin, the developers will create a large detention pond on the property to help alleviate flooding issues, as the area sits mostly in a 100-year-flood plain. The excavated dirt would be used to raise the ground level by one to three feet or more.
The project is slated to cost $11.2 million but there's no word on when the work will begin.
