The Sedgwick County Commission held their final meeting of the year.
The main discussion centered on the County's state legislative platform for 2025. Some of the highlights include additional budget support for the county treasurer's office and for elections. Tania Cole with the county says they would like to eliminate the long wait for services for individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability and to adopt an annual adjustment process for IDD funding to keep pace with cost increases.
Commissioners also adopted a policy that spells out how large events will be handled on county property. The county will have an evaluation process, with additional rules and regulations to minimize safety hazards and reduce chances of property damage.
