Sedgwick County Commissioners deferred a vote on an amendment to the Wichita-Sedgwick County Unified Zoning Code regarding renewable energy systems.

Commissioner David Dennis stated he needed more information on the subject, before green-lighting new regulations.

As part of their 30-day deferral, the county will hire an outside consulting firm with expertise on renewal energy practices around the nation.

Following that vote, the board extended the county's solar moratorium for 6 months, until September 13.
