Sedgwick County is holding a training exercise for local first responders and public safety officials from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13 at 2645 N. New York St. The exercise is being conducted on private property and is not open to the public.
Tuesday’s exercise will be a simulated and controlled hazardous materials release scenario. If citizens observe smoke from this location, they are asked to not call 9-1-1, as it is a part of the exercise scenario.
County Commissioners were invited and may be present to observe the training exercise as well. Steve and Ted spoke with Sedgwick County Commission Chairman Pete Meitzner who reminded listeners about the exercise in a live interview at 04:45.
