At the party's monthly meeting on Thursday night, the Sedgwick County Republican Party approved an amended resolution urging Wichita voters to reject the city’s proposed temporary sales tax ahead of the March 3rd special election. The meeting was held at the Wichita Area Builders Association on N. Main Street in Wichita. The resolution states the sales tax proposal was rushed through the Wichita City Council without enough public input nor clear oversight on how the money would be spent.
The sales tax measure proposes to raise about $850 million for city projects. Supporters have said it would fund improvements across Wichita and provide some property tax relief. The sales tax question will appear on the ballot in the March 3 special election.
