
A Sedgwick County inmate has died.
County officials say the 35-year-old man was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 5:50 Sunday morning. The inmate received immediate medical attention from onsite staff and responding EMS personnel. The man was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The preliminary cause of death is unknown pending an autopsy. The family of the man has been notified and his identity is being withheld at their request. The inmate was being held on felony charges and had been in custody since January.
The KBI and the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Investigation Division have been notified. This is the third in-custody death for 2023.
