During Wednesday’s Sedgwick County Commission meeting, plans for a wireless tower in the southeast part of the county were put on pause.
The proposed 195-foot-tall wireless communications tower would have been placed on the southeast corner of East 71st Street South and 99th Street East, just east of Derby. It would have exceeded the county's limit for towers in rural residential areas by 75 feet.
Several people attended the meeting and voiced opposition to the plan.
By a 3-2 vote, the commission voted to defer the issue back to the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission for clarification.
