Sedgwick County still spending federal recovery money

Pete Meitzner
KNSS NEWS

Sedgwick County continues to use federal grant money to help with recovery from the COVID pandemic. County Commission Chair Pete Meitzner tells KNSS News the process is on Wednesday's Commission meeting agenda. American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding must be completely spent by the end of 2024, and there is about $9 million left in the account. Meitzner this week's meeting will review the process for awarding that money locally.

The Commission will also look at the future of disaster management. The county's capital improvement plan may consider a new emergency preparedness center.

Meitzner commented during his weekly visit with Steve and Ted in the Morning on KNSS.
