During Wednesday's Sedgwick County Commission meeting, the board received an update from the county's Extension center. The discussion centered on winter wheat, along with the corn crop.
Jeff Seiler, Agriculture Agent, says the agency planted 28 different varieties of wheat in a plot to study performance. He says that data is important to local farmers.
Meanwhile, the corn crop has seen a variety of yields during harvest: as high as 120 bushels per acre, but more commonly around 50 to 90 bushels per acre.
An interactive wheat tour can be found on the extension center's web page.
