A study by the Center for Economic Development and Business Research at Wichita State University indicates the Sedgwick County Zoo's economic impact is $59.4 million annually on the region. Sedgwick County Commission Chair Pete Meitzner tells KNSS News another big visitor attraction is Wichita's Exploration Place, which has been working together with the zoo on "joint events" and avoiding scheduling conflicts.
There is no Sedgwick County Commission meeting this week. Meitzner says all the county departments are working on budgeting this week. He likens it to a "fraternity Hell Week".
And Tuesday is Fentanyl Awareness Day. Meitzner says it wasn't long ago that no one had even heard of the deadly drug.
Meitzner commented during his weekly chat with Steve and Ted in the Morning on KNSS.
