At Wednesday's meeting, the Sedgwick County Commission will approve a proclamation declaring Suicide Awareness Week and Month in the county. Commission Chair Ryan Baty tells KNSS News 49,000 people die by suicide across the country every year, about one every 11 minutes. Last year 92 people died by suicide in Sedgwick County.
Baty says COMCARE operates a help line 24/7 at 988 for anyone considering taking their own life. Baty says COMCARE has resources to help in a crisis.
