The Wichita City Council approved funding for the design of four road and bridge projects in 2025.

They include 127th Street East from Douglas to 13th Street North, 21st Street North from Saint Teresa to 119th Street West, Webb Road from Central to 13th Street North, and the 1st Street Bridge over the Arkansas River.

Lane configurations, drainage, pedestrian and bicycle components and aesthetic enhancements will all be a part of the design, which will cost the city $4.22 million.

The council also approved a second design contract for improvements to the west bank of the Arkansas River, between Douglas and Waterman.

The designs will include a seawall and landscape enhancements. The council thus far has approved over $562 thousand in design costs.

Airfield improvements are coming to Jabara Airport.

WSU Tech's National Center for Aviation Training has received a grant for additional airfield pavement at the facility. Because the bid was favorable, the project size was increased, which will allow for additional apron work and the associated grading and drainage. This will allow the future development of a dedicated maintenance hangar at the site.
