Storms in Wichita Saturday night dropped large hail and heavy rain, which flooded some streets.
The storms moved in during the 7 o'clock hour. Hail up to the size of golfballs was reported near 119th Street West and 21st Street North and also near 13th and West. Ping pong ball-size hail was reported near Harry and Rock in the southeast part of the city.
While Eisenhower National Airport only received 0.05" of rain, around an inch to more than 2.5" was measured from NW Wichita, near the Sedgwick County Zoo, southeast across the central part of the city.
Lightning was responsible for a fire at Derby's Field Station: Dinosaurs. Sedgwick County dispatch confirmed that one of the dinosaurs caught on fire after being struck by lightning. It was cleared just before 10 p.m.
