A Sedgwick County jail deputy has been arrested in connection with an attempt to stage a jail riot, similar to one that took place last week in Lansing.

Officials say that the now former deputy, Dustin Burnett was on duty Sunday and watched inmates bring contraband into the jail, but did nothing to stop it, or report it.
On Sunday, the sheriff's office said four inmates removed a pipe from a sink in the dayroom, took the pipe into a cell, and started pounding on a window until they created a fist-sized hole in the glass.
The inmates lowered a sheet, and someone on the outside put two cellphones and marijuana into it. The inmates raised the sheet and collected the items.
Investigators learned they had intended to have three more drops that day with the goal of getting a handgun into the jail. However, a sergeant was informed by an inmate before those last drops could take place.
169 Sheriff's Deputies conducted a thorough sweep of the jail Wednesday night. After six hours they reported finding a hand cuff key, two shanks, pieces of metal that could be used as weapon, and a butane lighter.
Sheriff Jeff Easter says K-2 and bogus perkiest pills laced with fentanyl were also discovered before an inmate in a pod was observed on security cameras, receiving CPR from another inmate...
That inmate was treated at a Wichita hospital before being returned to jail. An investigation into how the drugs got introduced into that pod is underway.
