Three people are dead after a shooting in southeast Wichita Saturday morning.
It occurred just before 11:30 a.m., in the 5000 block of E. Blake, near Pawnee and Oliver.
Wichita Police say six people, along with the suspect, were in the home at the time of the shooting. All three victims who were shot and killed were family members, including a 49-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman and a 25-year-old woman. The other three people were not injured.
The suspect, 21-year-old Juan Valenzuela-Silva, fled the scene after the shooting and was considered armed and dangerous. His vehicle was located using Flock cameras and air support from the Kansas Highway Patrol. He was found within hours in Butler County and was arrested without incident. Police say Valenzuela-Silva was not armed when he was arrested on a charge of capital murder.
Police believe the suspect lived at the home where the shooting occurred and said he had no prior criminal history.
The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office is expected to file formal charges this week. Police are seeking a search warrant for the home to aid in the investigation.
