Members of the machinist union working for SpiritAerosystems have voted no on accepting the company’s contract offer.
79% voted to turn down the offer, and 85% voted to strike.
Thousands of workers made theire way to Hartman Arena Wednesday to vote on the contract, with many saying they had issues with it.
Employees expressed concerned about certain medication no longer being covered under the proposed health benefits, as well as concerns over the cost of living adjustment cap not being reached each year.
In a statement Spirit called the vote disappointing. Adding that they respect the rights of their represented employees.
They add that they look forward to continued meetings with union leadership.
They have a midnight Friday deadline as the current contract expires, to come up with a solution.
If there is none, workers plan to go on strike.
