Hour 1 - The jail is down over 114 employees which puts the facility at 50% where it should be, with only 1 deputy for every 70 inmates on some shifts.
While a 2% pay raise was approved, putting starting pay at around $19-dollars an hour, they're still having trouble finding job applicants. Sheriff Jeff Easter is calling for a $4-dollar and hour raise for all staff, making starting pay around $23-dollars-an-hour.
County leaders plan to discuss the pay issue with Sheriff Easter during a meeting next week.
