UPDATE 9:45 a.m. : Today’s portion of the Frontiers in Flight Airshow has been cancelled due to storm damage at McConnell AFB.

John Van Winkle, Chief of Public affairs at the base, says a slow-moving storm brought wind gusts in excess of 50mph to the McConnell flight line. "Because of damage to services, we are unable to execute a safe airshow."

"While we apologize for this late cancellation and regret having to make this decision, Safety is always our first priority at McConnell, especially when it comes to hosting the public for an airshow," Winkle said.

At Saturday's event, 115 people received medical treatment, most were for heat-related conditions. Seventeen people were transported to local hospitals.
