In a recent study, personal finance website WalletHub ranked Wichita, Kan. as the #14 best destination for summer travel. The study ranked 100 U.S. cities across a number of metrics. However; this particular study gave increased weight to questions of affordability and ease of travel, areas where Wichita scored very well.
Wichita was #12 in travel costs and hassles, #7 in local costs, and #6 in cheapest flight. Wichita was also #6 in cost of an at least 3-star hotel. Attractions and activities were also measured metrics, and areas where Wichita scored considerably lower. But this particular study and ranking weighed those metrics less.
The region generally scored very well, Tulsa ranking at #7 and OKC coming in at #9. Springfield Missouri ranked #12. The Kansas City metro area did not do as well, only ranking at #61. #1 on the list was the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, FL metro area.
