Suspect arrested in Wichita after a shooting on N. Minnesota

Police have arrested 56-year-old Kenneth James of Wichita on charges of aggravated battery, stemming from a shooting that critically injured a man from Wichita.

At about 7:45 on Wednesday evening, officers were dispatched to a hospital, where a shooting victim had walked in with a gunshot wound to his chest. The victim, a 50-year-old man, underwent surgery and is in stable condition; he is expected to survive.

The incident took place in the 2400 block of N. Minnesota (east of the Canal Route). Officers learned the victim had a verbal altercation with James over an outstanding issue; after a brief physical altercation, James produced a gun and shot the victim.

Investigators say this was not a random incident.
