Sedgwick County property owners received their property valuation statements in the mail this week. County Commission Chair Ryan Baty tells KNSS News he gets a lot of email of citizens this time of year, and when tax statements go out. Baty says the county tax bill is only a quarter of your total bill. He says higher assessments will mean higher tax bills, even though the tax rate has not increased. Baty says there is a lot of confusion about property taxes.
Baty says the county assessor is hired and paid by the state of Kansas.
