The Medical Loan Closet is asking for the public’s help to identify a man and woman connected to the theft of 14 hospital beds from the west side of its facility at 6655 E. Harry St. in Wichita. The theft occurred at approximately 8 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2026. The beds had recently been donated and were awaiting intake so they could be made available to individuals who need hospital beds for use at home.
Surveillance video shows a man and woman arriving in a dark colored pickup truck pulling a trailer, then removing and loading the beds. Portions of some headboards and footboards were left behind, suggesting the items may have been taken to be sold as scrap. In a release, The Medical Loan Closet is asking anyone who recognizes the vehicle or the individuals shown in the surveillance images to call the Wichita Police Department Case Desk at 316-268-4221 and reference case number 26C531220 or contact the Medical Loan Closet at 316-779-8989.
A generous donation of a new locking gate has been made to the Medical Loan Closet... but they are requesting transportation help in transporting the gate to the organization's facility. Anyone able to assist with transporting the gate is encouraged to call the Medical Loan Closet at 316-779-8989.
