A former Wichita deputy police chief and two current deputy chiefs are calling for the resignation of City Manager Robert Layton.
The attorney representing deputy chiefs, José Salcido, Chester Pinkston, and former Deputy Chief Wanda Givens, sent the city a thirteen page letter, laying out what they say is defamation and retaliation, creating a hostile work environment and are seeking over $2,000,000 in damages.
The letters site numerous incidents including racial text messages sent by members of the department last year, and asks for City Manager Layton and H-R Director Chris Bezruki to resign.
The city says they cannot comment on pending litigation.
