Kansas City, MO – There’s going to be even more rumbles in the skies over the Kansas City Metro this weekend as the Air Force's Thunderbirds join the US Navy's Blue Angels at the KC Air Show.

Organizers of this year's air show made the surprise announcement Monday. Now, two jet fighter acrobatic teams are pairing up to dazzle onlookers for a first time pairing at the KC Air Show.

“This last-minute addition will allow the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels to be seen together in a one-time civilian-produced air show that is normally not possible,” KC Air Show Director Kerry Floyd said in the release.

Also performing: the US Army's Golden Knights parachute team, and the Marines will demonstrate its Harrier jump jets, along with about two dozen military and civilian aviators and their flying machines.

The KC Air Show is being held July 3 and July 4 at the New Century Air Center near Gardner, Kansas.

The 2020 air show was cancelled due to the pandemic.
