Toys "R" Us is making a comeback, and Wichita will be a big part of it. Last week the retailer announced that it would be expanding to 28 locations across the U.S. Wichita is one of 8 locations that will receive a Toys "R" Us flagship store, while the other locations will be seasonal holiday shops.
The flagship store in Wichita will be in Towne East Square. Toys "R" Us' previous locations in Wichita included one just across from Towne East in Eastgate Plaza until it shut down in 2018 when Toys "R" Us filed for bankruptcy and closed all their remaining retail locations. They have not announced a specific opening date, but are expecting to open for the upcoming holiday season.
