Four victims were injured in an apartment fire in E. Wichita.
The fire broke out around 4:00 a.m. at the Brookhollow Apartments, east of Central & Rock. The injuries of the victims range from critical to serious.
Arriving fire crews found smoke coming from the building; they rescued one of the victims and evacuated others.
As crews were battling the flames, the fire became more dangerous. As crews moved up a third stairwell, it collapsed, and crew-members called 'mayday' at that time, going into a defensive mode. Crews also conducted rescue operations through the windows, and with exterior ladders.
