Two people died in a crash on Interstate 70 west of Topeka Friday afternoon.

It happened just after 3:45 p.m. The Kansas Highway Patrol says for an unknown reason, an eastbound semi-truck crossed the center median on I-70 in Wabaunsee County and struck a westbound car.

Authorities say the victims, Barbara Krier, 70, of Great Bend and Steven Reed, 50, of Topeka, both died at the scene.

A 7-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a Topeka hospital.

The semi-driver suffered minor injuries.
