Around 11:20 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a shooting at The Banquet Hall in the 3100 block of East 25th Street. When they arrived, they found Boisy D. Barefield inside with a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital but died from his injuries.

Police say there was a large graduation party at the venue when a disturbance ensued between two groups of people. Shots were fired and Barefield was struck.

A 15-year-old girl was fleeing the scene when she was hit by a car at the intersection of 25th Street North and Estelle. Samara Rockmore, 18, fled the scene but was later located, arrested and booked for felony hit and run.

The 15-year-old victim later died at an area hospital.

The investigation continues in the case but Police say a lack of cooperation has made the investigation difficult. They add that the incident is not random.
