Veterans Day is today; in honor of the national holiday, several Wichita facilities have altered hours.

Among the closures: City Hall, neighborhood resource centers, Wichita Public Library locations, Park Recreation centers, O.J. Watson Park, Mid-American All-Indian Museum, Cowtown, Wichita Art Museum, CityArts, Great Plains Nature Center, and Brooks Landfill.

There is no Wichita Transit nor Paratransit service.

However, still open for business are Botanica, Wichita public golf courses, the Ralph Wulz Riverside Tennis Center, and the Animal Shelter.

An annual ceremony was held at Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Wichita, featuring the national anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, and guest speaker U.S. Army Veteran Timothy Yde. The events also included a bugler playing “Amazing Grace,” a three-volley rifle salute, and a performance of "Taps" to conclude the public gathering.
