
UPDATE: A 20-year-old suspect is in custody and will face charges of Capital murder, child endangerment and felon in possession of a firearm, after Saturday morning’s double homicide in east Wichita.
The victims were identified as Christopher Harrell, 35, and Natisha Phillips, 35, both of Wichita.
Wichita Police were dispatched to the 7300 block of E. Kellogg at 9:25 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found the victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Phillips died at the scene while Harrell died at a local hospital.
A young child found at the scene was not hurt, and will receive needed medical and psychological treatment.
The 20-year-old suspect will not be identified by Wichita Police until formal charges are filed.
The shooting remains under investigation.
ORIGINAL STORY: Police say two people are dead after they were shot Saturday morning on Wichita’s east side.
It happened around 9:25 a.m. in the 7300 block of E. Kellogg. Officers found a 35-year-old woman and 35-year-old man both suffering from gunshot wounds.
The woman died at the scene while the man died later at a local hospital. Officials say a child at the scene was uninjured and is in protective custody. The names of the victims have not been released.
Police have arrested a suspect in the case as the investigation continues.
