The Sedgwick County Health Department is reminding families to make sure students are up to date on required immunizations before the new school year, with three back-to-school vaccine clinics scheduled this month.
The clinics will be held:
- Saturday, Aug. 8: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sedgwick County Health Department, 2716 W. Central in Wichita.
- Thursday, Aug. 13: 2 to 4 p.m. at the Derby Public Schools Administration Office. This is a walk-in clinic with no appointment required.
- Saturday, Aug. 22: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sedgwick County Health Department.
Appointments are required for the Sedgwick County Health Department clinics by calling 316-660-7300. Families should bring vaccination records, a health insurance card if applicable, and any documentation from the child's school nurse. Vaccinations are free for students with Medicaid or no insurance, and there is no co-pay for those with insurance.
Kansas requires students to be vaccinated against diseases including measles, mumps, rubella, polio, hepatitis A and B, chickenpox, meningococcal disease and others before attending school.
